Structural calculations, wind loads, the load-bearing substrate, on-site pull-out tests, thermal/fire/moisture design, current manufacturer data sheets and designer approval govern every project. Dimensions and performance values shown here must be verified against current documents before ordering or installation.
01 / Current main reference
21.5 cm clinker + 13+5 mm GRC
The current specification on the GRC Board website describes a system based on 215 × 65 × 15 mm clinker, a 13+5 mm board and a 605 × 1250 mm panel. C2TE class is referenced for the adhesive. This information is a starting point for quotation and preliminary design; connection layouts and subframe sections are calculated for each building.
| Component | Reference description | Project check |
|---|---|---|
| Klinker | 215 × 65 × 15 mm | Colour, weight, frost resistance, water absorption and batch sample |
| GRC Board | 605 × 1250 mm; 13 mm backing + 5 mm groove | Current product data sheet, test report, cutting and screw layout |
| Adhesive | C2TE reference for external façades | Compatibility with GRC and the selected clinker, temperature and open time |
| Grout | 8–12 mm; typically 10 mm | Water ratio, waiting time and mock-up area in accordance with the product data sheet |
| Subframe | Aluminium profiles, brackets and mechanical connections | Wind calculation, building height, substrate type and on-site pull-out test |
The detailed source specification describes the 13+5 mm board. The same performance table must not be applied automatically to the 8+6 mm product option; request the current technical data sheet for that product.
02 / Archive — outside the price calculator scope
44 cm clinker project type
Panel System Specifications 1 and 2 in the Klinker Tuğla archive were prepared for 440 × 65 × 15 mm clinker and an approximately 18 mm (13+5) board. This system must not be merged with the 21.5 cm main system above or treated as a direct equivalent of the current price calculator.
Archived technical value declaration
The values below are manufacturer declarations transferred from an older specification; they are not presented as an independent current test report. Current product data sheets and the relevant classification/test documents must be required at ordering and project acceptance.
| Property | Archived declaration | Acceptance note |
|---|---|---|
| Compressive strength | 30–50 N/mm² | Verified with a current product test report |
| Flexural strength | 8–20 N/mm² | Section and test standard are confirmed |
| Density | 1,7–2,2 g/cm³ | Production batch and technical data sheet govern |
| Water absorption | %7–9 | Current test method and report are required |
| Thermal conductivity | 0,6–1,4 W/mK | Designer approval is required for thermal calculations |
| Impact resistance | 5.000–16.000 J/m² | Product and test conditions are verified |
| Expansion | %0,58 | Assessed together with joint and connection calculations |
| Water-vapour diffusion resistance | 60 | A current value is used in moisture calculations |
| Reaction to fire | A1 — DIN 4102 reference in the archive | A current TS EN 13501-1 classification document is required |
The A1 designation describes only the reaction-to-fire class of the documented GRC board. It does not automatically mean “A1” or a specific fire resistance for the adhesive, membrane, insulation or the complete façade system.
03 / System components
How should it be defined in the specification?
| Item | Specification approach | Required documentation |
|---|---|---|
| GRC board | Dimensions and section suitable for the project type; 13+5 mm main reference | Product data sheet, quality/test reports, batch and delivery records |
| Klinker | 21.5 cm main system or separate 44 cm project type | Sample approval, dimensional tolerance, water absorption and freeze-thaw documentation |
| Adhesive | 21.5 cm main system: C2TE; 44 cm archived system: C2T | Compatibility with the GRC substrate and clinker, open time and manufacturer installation data sheet |
| Grout | Cement-based wide-joint grout suitable for clinker | Colour sample, application temperature, water ratio and curing conditions |
| Profiles and brackets | Section, grid and alloy are determined by project calculations | Structural calculation, corrosion conditions, fabrication drawing and supply documentation |
| Anchors and screws | Mechanical fixing suitable for the load-bearing substrate and loads | On-site pull-out test, anchor plan, torque and installation records |
| Insulation and membrane | Selected according to thermal, fire and moisture design | Thickness/density calculation, fire documentation, laps and drainage detail |
The 50 × 70 × 2 mm T-profile, 3.2 mm L-bracket, M10 × 85 anchor, 5.5 × 25 screw, 62.5 cm profile grid, 1000/1500 mm bracket spacing, 60 mm mineral wool and 90 g/m² membrane values in older documents are example descriptions from the source projects only. They must not be used as fixed rules for every building.
04 / Installation and acceptance
Site installation principles
- Survey and measurement: The load-bearing substrate, plumb, openings, building height, wind zone and anchoring capacity are recorded.
- Calculations and drawings: Profile grids, bracket/anchor layout, fixed/sliding points, corners, windows, parapets, sills, movement joints and drainage details are approved.
- Insulation and moisture layer: Project-suitable insulation is installed continuously; membrane laps and tapes are applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s data sheet.
- Subframe: Brackets and vertical profiles are installed on the calculated grid; plane, connections and corrosion conditions are checked.
- GRC Board installation: Board joints are resolved on supporting grid lines; screw edge distances, joint gaps and the fixed/sliding connection layout follow the approved fabrication.
- Mock-up area: Appearance, adhesion and cleaning methods for clinker, adhesive and grout are approved before proceeding with the entire façade.
- Clinker and grout: Adhesive is applied without exceeding its open time; joint width is maintained and the surface is cleaned according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Handover inspection: Loose elements, cracks, unfilled joints, surface contamination, drainage, terminations and movement joints are recorded.
